Josh and I decided to take an idea and go with it. He told me what we had in the fridge and we came up with our own french bread pizzas. It is so easy to make, and this would be a great dinner idea to do with the kiddos! You can add whatever veggies and other toppings you like on your pizza. Here’s to our own experiment! Hope you all like it…feedback would be WONDERFUL!!
Makes: 8 servings
Here’s what you’ll need:
1/2 lb ground beef
1 lb loaf french bread (fresh)
2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce or 16 oz marinara sauce
2 tsp garlic pepper
1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped
1/2 bell pepper, finely chopped
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
2-2 1/2 cups shredded cheese (any kind you prefer)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Meanwhile, cut french bread in 1/2, then cut in 1/2 again (lengthwise).
Place the bread side-by-side and spread a layer of sauce evenly on the top. Meanwhile cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-heat until browned and drain off fat…
Place in the oven for about 10 minutes prior to placing the cheese on the top. Remove from oven and sprinkle with cheese evenly…
Place back into the oven for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and slightly brown on top. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before devouring!
**These are just the toppings that we had chosen at the time, you can add any kind of toppings that you would normally enjoy on your pizza and this recipe can easily be cut in half.
